Wagner's status uncertain
MADISON, Wis. - The Badgers might be forced to play without left tackle Ricky Wagner for another week, according to Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema.
Wagner was originally injured late in the first quarter of Wisconsin's 38-14 win over Purdue two weeks ago, after another player rolled up on his right knee. Bielema said Wagner practiced Wednesday and Thursday, but he'll probably be a game-time decision for when the Badgers take on Michigan State this weekend.
"We'll probably give him tomorrow off and see where he's at on Saturday," Bielema said after practice Thursday.
Wagner missed last week's game against Minnesota, and left guard Ryan Groy shifted over a spot to start in Wagner's place. Wisconsin's offensive line will have it's hands full with Michigan State's aggressive front four, but Bielema said they won't put Wagner back into a game unless they're completely comfortable with his help.
"We've got to be really cautious with Ricky," Bielema said. "We've just got to be cautious to make sure he's good to go, and not just him telling us he's good to go.
"If he's not 100 percent full-strength, we won't put him in that position."
Bielema also said defensive end Tyler Dippel practiced all week, and will be able to help the Badgers off the bench after he re-aggravated a previous shoulder injury last week.
