McGuire garnering more interest

After passing for over 1,600 yards and 12 touchdowns during his sophomore year in Franklin's high-octane offense, Sean McGuire is itching to begin his camp tour this summer.

"I will be at Wisconsin's two-day camp with some of my teammates," McGuire told BadgerBlitz.com. "I'll be at Northern Illinois, Ohio State, Illinois State and I'm still hoping to register for about four or five more camps."

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback has also seen his recruiting interest pick up over the last month or so. In addition to UW, a handful of other schools have reached out.

"Well, I have been getting more mail recently now," said McGuire, who took over the starting spot at Franklin after the graduation of current Badger Lance Baretz. "I have gotten interest from a few schools that I really was excited to see and I'm extremely happy with how it's going so far.

"I have gotten interest from Wisconsin, BYU, Tennessee, Duke, Penn State and Dartmouth. Obviously it is very early and I just hope there is much more to come in the future as a result of healthy and successful seasons."

Wisconsin, which has a philosophy of taking one quarterback in each recruiting cycle, sits very well in McGuire's eyes.

"Being from Wisconsin, obviously I was very happy to hear about their interest," McGuire said. "I have always loved everything about their program and have the utmost respect for them.

"Down the road I would love to visit the campus and take in as many games as I can."

Illinois State will get a visit in the near future, but McGuire's main emphasis is building off an 8-3 season a year ago.

"I don't have any other visits planned," he said. "This summer I will be focusing on practicing with my teammates, building towards the season and camping at multiple schools.

"I am extremely excited for this upcoming season. This off-season has brought so much unity and continuity with our team. Coach (Louis) Brown has done an excellent job, as well as the other coaches on our staff, at preaching the importance of hard work both in the classroom and in the weight room.

"My goal is to bring a conference championship back to Franklin. I can speak on behalf of the rest of the program when I say we believe it is a goal that is definitely reachable."
