Tar Heels close to offering McNeil?

Over the last two years, Daronte McNeil has carried the load in the backfield for Elizabeth City, N.C., Northeastern, one of the state's top programs in the 2-A ranks.

According to McNeil's head coach, Antonio Moore, there are multiple things about his star running back that make him a special player.

"For one, he's big and strong," said Moore. "He's really strong, he has great vision for a running back, as well as deceptive speed, and he is a fierce competitor."

"All the way growing up since grade school, he's always been a winner in everything," Moore added. "He expects to win all the time, which is good."

As a sophomore in 2004, McNeil took the reigns at tailback and rushed for better than 1,500 yards.
