Pair of signees closing on qualifying

A pair of Canes signees are closing on qualifying.

RB Graig Cooper says he needs an 18 on the ACT to qualify. He currently has a 17.

"I take it again the second weekend of June," he said. "I'm confident, I know I can get it. I also took the test a couple of weeks ago but didn't get my results back yet."

"I've talked to coach (Rich) Olson and (Tim) Walton. They really stressed the ACT, that I have to get my grades right. They were just touching base."

Cooper currently weighs 189 pounds. He played at 192 pounds.

"I've lost weight in the track season," says Cooper, who runs the 100, 200 and 400-relay and 800-relay.
