Anderson leads North to Madison

One day after leading his high school to a birth in the WIAA Division I next weekend in Madison, caught up with five-star center Evan Anderson, whose Eau Claire North squad won it's sectional final , 53-33, against Wausau West Saturday night.

A 6-foot-11, 250-pound center in the 2010 recruiting class, Anderson poured in nine points to help secure a trip to state.

"The whole team is really excited," said Anderson about playing in Madison this Thursday. "We're going to play Wauwatosa East. We don't know a lot about them but we do know that they have three really good players on their team. I believe we have players that can match-up with them, so it should be a good game."

Anderson, rated the top center in the class of 2010 and fifth player overall, already has offers in hand from Boston College, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Marquette and Wisconsin. He also has been receiving steady interest from UCLA and North Carolina.

With his main focus on the season at hand, Anderson's recruitment has been put on the backburner for the time being.

"As far as my recruitment, nothing has really changed," Anderson said. "My offers are all the same. Nothing new from that standpoint. As of right now, I don't have any favorites."

Still, it hasn't stopped Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan from making Anderson one of the top recruiting priorities in the sophomore class.

"Wisconsin is still recruiting me pretty hard," he said. "Coach Greg Gard came to my game on Friday night actually. Our relationship is good, we talk quite a bit."

Currently, it sounds like Anderson with be looking to make his college decision sometime in the near future.

"I'm looking to gather some more information about all the schools. I plan some making my decision this spring," he said.

This summer, Anderson hopes to improve his overall game by traveling with the Wisconsin Playground Warriors, an AAU team based in Milwaukee.

"This summer I'll be playing with the Wisconsin Playground Warriors again," Anderson said. "I'm really excited to be playing with them again."
