Wright spends the day in Madison

The most recent 2010 prospect to receive an offer from Wisconsin and head coach Bo Ryan was on campus Thursday for an unofficial visit to Madison.

Cameron Wright, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard from Cleveland (OH) Benedictine, was given the full academic and athletic tour by UW assistant coaches Greg Gard and Howard Moore.

"When we got there, we went to the football stadium and I was able to meet Kyle Jefferson, he's a kid from Glenville (Ohio)," Wright told BadgerBlitz.com a few hours after he completed his visit.

"From there, we got to meet with the strength and conditioning coach and also a key person from the School of Life Sciences and Communications; she was a real nice person to talk with. Basically I was on a big campus tour. I stopped to talk with Jim Johannes from the Business School. That building and whole area was all knew and really impressive.

"I met with a few academic advisors and then took a tour of the Kohl Center. Everything was capped off with a little meeting with Coach Ryan at the end."

Accompanied by Benedictine head coach Rob Stircula, Wright came away impressed with everything the university had to offer.

"I can definitely see me playing at Wisconsin," said Wright, who picked up a Badger offer on May 12 (according to Stircula) in the aftermath of Vander Blue's decommitment.

"I can definitely see me playing here. They (Wisconsin) were up there, just like every other school I've been visiting. All these schools are top caliber and Wisconsin really impressed me a lot."

Wright, who plans on leaving Madison early Friday morning to visit Notre Dame, said he is in no hurry to make his final decision.

"It's still kind of early and I'm not in a big rush," Wright said. "I'd like to be all situated before the start of my season because I have some goals I want to work towards. But as far as making a decision, I'm going to get my visits out of the way and sit down with my parents and my coach and see what we come down to."

Once a verbal commitment to Ohio State, Wright reopened his recruitment in late April.

"When Coach (John) Groce took the head coaching position at Ohio University, Cameron just didn't have the same relationship with Ohio State," Stircula said in a past interview with this site. "He wasn't feeling it, so he decided to decommit and open thing back up."

Added Wright: "I guess Coach Matta had a new agenda. There was a span of three months where we had a strained relationship," he said in the same interview. "I just didn't feel the connection that was there in the beginning. So, I talked to my high school coach and my parents. We thought it was in my best interest to open things back up."

Currently, Wisconsin has one verbal in its 2010 class in Evan Anderson. At this point, one more scholarship is available.
