James reaffirms commitment

Gary Andersen's biggest priority in the 2013 recruiting class has been to maintain the recruits who have already committed to Wisconsin.

Those efforts got a big boost on Wednesday when three-star defensive end Alec James decided he was firmly committed to the Badgers.

"I just feel that Wisconsin is the right fit for me." James told BadgerBlitz.com on Wednesday. "Coach Andersen and everyone he brought in at Madison are good people and care about you as a person and not just an athlete."

James, 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, seems to be an ideal fit in new defensive coordinator Dave Aranda's 3-4 scheme as a pass rushing outside linebacker.

"We talked about (the 3-4) and I saw some film on it and I'm excited," James said.

The Brookfield East standout and 2012 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association defensive player of the year decided to explore other opportunities after the coaching change at UW.

He ended up visiting Oregon officially before deciding to keep his commitment to Wisconsin.

"I thought about decommitting somewhat," he said, "But there's just something about Madison."
