Curtis close to announcement
Wake Forest is in Orlando (Fla.) Olympia offensive tackle Shawn Curtis' top three with Iowa State and Syracuse.
Curtis, who has been to all three of the schools, does not have a leader out of the trio of candidates.
He took his official visit to Wake Nov. 2-3, and saw the Deacs defeat Boston College 28-14. Curtis enjoyed his time with the Demon Deacon coaching staff.
"I really like the campus they got there," Curtis said.
The 6-foot-5 and 270-pound Curtis spent time Wake Forest commitments Josh Harris and Cory Helms during his time in Winston-Salem.
"We [Josh Harris, Cory Helms and him] talked," Curtis said. "They're real cool people."
Curtis, who is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, added he can imagine himself playing with Harris and Helms.
The Sunshine State prospect said he will not take any more visits.
"I'll probably talk to my coach this week and set up the announcement," Curtis said. "No hints, [I want to] surprise everybody."
Curtis added is he is pretty close to making his big announcement.
He has gathered the information he needs to decide, but has not made up his mind.
"Syracuse, I like the coaching staff and a lot of the players I got along with," Curtis said. "At Iowa State I like how all of the players are real close and the campus life they have there."
Tom Elrod and Jonathan Himebauch are recruiting Curtis for the Demon Deacons.
"Elrod, we've always been in good contact and he's a very good recruiter and I like him a lot," Curtis said.
Curtis said the fact that Wake already has five offensive line commitments in its 2013 recruiting class does not affect the Deacs standing with him.
"All five of those are coming in later, and I'm coming in early, so I'm fine," Curtis said.
He is eager to graduate from high school in December and enroll at whatever college he commits to for the 2013 spring semester.
