No one can say that Georgia's commitments aren't, well, committed.
All five of the Bulldog's 2013 commitments from the high school ranks will be in attendance Saturday for Georgia's Very Important Dawg (VID) Day.
Sandy Creek cornerback back Shaquille Wiggins, Camden quarterback Brice Ramsey, Newnan safety Tray Matthews, Northgate defensive tackle DeAndre Johnson, and Yulee (Yulee, Fla.) running back Derrick Henry will all make the trip to Athens and according to Matthews, all of them will be working hard.
"We are going to work hard for Georgia," Matthews told UGASports in an interview where he confirmed he will be at VID Day. "We have to do it big, and do our part."
While Henry, Ramsey, and Matthews are three of the most highly rated recruits in the country attending the event, they know they will have their work cut out for them with some other big name prospects.
Rivals100 prospects on campus
Two other big time prospects that will be on campus for Georgia's event will be Columbia (Lake City, Fla.) offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, and Dooly County defensive tackle Montravius Adams.
Tunsil is the third ranked prospect in the country by Rivals.com, and is Georgia's top target on the offensive line for 2013. He stated after his Junior Day visit to Florida that the Gators had the lead, but that Georgia was behind them, and in his top two. Georgia will have a chance to flex its muscle for the blue chip lineman this weekend, as Tunsil will likely get the red carpet treatment.
After saying he wanted to leave the state earlier in the process, Adams seems to be warming up to the idea of staying in state to play his college ball.
Adams let UGASports know earlier in the week that he was excited about his visit to the Classic City, and Georgia has definitely made the star defender a priority, as he is a perfect fit to play defensive end in Todd Grantham's 3-4 schemes.
Offers could go out
Several prospects will be heading to Athens his weekend, hoping to earn an offer from the Bulldogs.
Troup safety Cortez Leonard, Sandy Creek offensive lineman Alan Knott, Atlantic (Delray Beach Fla.) defensive tackle Keith Bryant, T.L. Hanna (Anderson, S.C.) linebacker Ben Boulware, and Liberty County 2014 linebacker Raekwon McMillan all appear to be close to a UGA offer, and this weekend could be a lucky one for any of them.
Leonard was in Athens last weekend, and believes he will get the good news soon.
"I believe I'll get one," said Leonard. "I think they like me a lot, and I believe one is coming soon."
Boulware, who projects as an inside linebacker at the next level, plays a position of great need for the Bulldogs, and his recruitment has been on fire lately as he now has 11 offers.
McMillan may be a 2014 recruit, but the Georgia coaches have undoubtedly seen what those who follow recruiting have seen from the Liberty County star.
McMillan is a bit of a YouTube sensation with his fearless play and bone jarring hits, and he is an early candidate to be the top player in Georgia for 2014.
